Course Description

The Women’s Literature course addresses the woman’s voice in literature. By exploring literary essays, short fiction, and poetry, one gains an understanding of the woman’s experience and her voice as shown through her writing. The course also focuses on understanding feminine gender issues in addition to exploring feminine language and thought.

A smart course

  • This course provides numerous critical thinking activities. The opportunities for learners to use higher-level thinking skills are frequent and placed throughout the course.

    Clear goals in rubrics and assessments
  • The instructor establishes clear and measureable competencies and outcomes, using rubrics to tie course expectations together. The learning objectives are clearly written and measureable and clearly aligned with the content and activities.
  • The use of rubrics for grading discussions was excellent - I loved that each rubric was tailored to the various discussions.
  • The variety of assessment types accommodates various learning styles.
  • Learner orientation and support are really strong.

    Thoughtful and varied integration of media
  • Each unit had a nice mixture of visual media representing the content.
  • The course design is exceptional, consistent with varied instructional delivery strategies such as  video lecture, other videos, and readings.
  • Each unit starts with a lecture that learners review prior to reading and completing the activities for each unit, an excellent strategy for introducing important concepts for each unit and enhancing the online experience.

    Organized and intuitive layout
  • I was especially impressed with the course design and the content presentation.
  • This course excels in its layout and ease of navigation, with plenty of links and good use of objectives. It's very well organized and flows nicely, so I had no problem finding things or getting from place to place.
  • The course content and learning activities are consistently structured, organized, and easily navigated.
