End User Login Issues - Troubleshooting
As an end user of Blackboard Scholar, the first time you use Blackboard Scholar you will need to create an account on Scholar. On subsequent occasions, when you access Scholar from your Blackboard learning system server, you will be seamlessly connected to Blackboard Scholar.
In order to create your account on Blackboard Scholar you will need to click on one of the following links within your Blackboard learning system server. If you do not see any of these links, then please ask your Blackboard system administrator to install and register the Blackboard Scholar Building Block or Powerlink. Create your account on Blackboard Scholar from one of the following links on your Blackboard learning system server:
- the Scholar tab
- the My Scholar Home tool link in courses
- the Scholar Course Home tool link in a course
- a Scholar link in the Tool Panel on the My Institution page
Subsequently, after you have created your account, you will not be presented with the account creation form, instead you will be seamlessly logged onto Blackboard Scholar when you click on any of the above links within your Blackboard learning system.
You may directly logon to Blackboard Scholar at http://www.scholar.com/, but in this case you will need to enter your Blackboard Scholar username and password, whereas you will not need to if you access from your Blackboard learning system server.
If you are seeing a "Login" link (top right of screen) then that means you are at the public view of scholar (e.g. http://www.scholar.com). You can confirm this by looking at the blue bar under the Scholar logo. If you are viewing the public version of Scholar, the welcome message will say "Hello, Public User." If you are seeing this, this is because you are trying to access Scholar without having first logged onto your Blackboard learning system server. If you are sure you have logged into your Blackboard learning system, then please follow up with your Blackboard system administrator as there is a problem with the registration or configuration of your Blackboard Scholar Building Block or Powerlink.
