Notifications

Notifications are a running log of your actions and interactions with other Scholar users.

Types of Notifications

  • From Friends - updates and status messages from your Friends
  • From System - there are three types of System notifications:
    • Invitation - in addition to an email, you get a notification when someone has invited you to be Friends.
    • Logs - notifications about actions you have taken or others have taken in response to you. For example "You sent userA an invitation to be Friends" and "userA has accepted your invitation to become Friends" are two of this type of System notification
    • System-wide updates - notifications about technical issues, new features or more from the Blackboard team that brings you Scholar

View Notifications

You can view the most recent few notifications right from your Scholar Home - just make sure the My Notifications & Invitations panel in the right column is expanded.

You can access your full list of Notifications by clicking "View All Notifications" in the My Notifications & Invitations panel.

Manage Notifications

Click "View All Notifications" in the My Notifications & Invitations panel in the right column on your Scholar Home. This brings you to your Notifications management console.

Filter
You can use the tabs at the top to filter them to see All your notifications, or only those from your Friends, Favorites or the System.

Remove
You can remove Notifications from your list by checking the box and clicking the "Remove Selected" button at the bottom right corner. Or just click "Remove All" to clear your Notification list completely.

Update your Status

Your status message is a way to keep other Scholar users updated on what you're doing or what's on your mind. You can set your status message through the My Profile panel in the right column on your Scholar Home, or through your Profile page. In the My Profile panel changing your status message and clicking "Update Status" will send a notification to all of your Friends. Your status also shows up in your profile.
