WHAT'S THE SCHOLAR BOOKMARKLET?

A bookmarklet is a button that can be installed in your browser in the Links Toolbar (Microsoft Internet Explorer) or Bookmarks Toolbar (Mozilla Firefox). Once installed, any time you are browsing the Web and discover a site you want to save to Scholar, you can click on the bookmarklet to add that site to Scholar without ever having to navigate away from the page.

Scholar now provides the bookmarklet in 2 formats: Regular or the new Pop-up bookmarklet. The latter opens the Add Bookmark form in a pop-up window. The former opens the Add Bookmark form in the current window (good if you have pop-up blocking enabled).

One limitation of the Pop-up bookmarklet when used with the Firefox browser is that it will pop-up the Add a Bookmark window behind (rather than in front of) your current window. This is not a problem in other browsers

HOW DO I INSTALL THE BOOKMARKLET?

Installing the bookmarklet is really easy! Here's what you do:

Step One: Make sure your toolbar is enabled.

  • For Internet Explorer, select View > Toolbars and make sure the "Links" toolbar is checked.
  • For Mozilla Firefox, select View > Toolbars and make sure the "Bookmarks" toolbar is checked.

Step Two: Install the bookmarklet in your toolbar.

You can get the Scholar bookmarklet (and a copy of these instructions) at http://www.scholar.com/bookmarklet.dobbb

For Internet Explorer, do the following:

  • Right click on the link above, and choose Add to Favorites. (If Internet Explorer says the bookmarklet you are adding might not be safe, just click Yes to continue. You can trust us!)
  • In the "Add a Favorite" dialog box select "Links" for the "Create in:" field.
  • Click Add

For Mozilla Firefox, just click on the bookmarklet link stored on the page above and drag it to your Bookmarks Toolbar.
